The Camp OCA board has been actively monitoring the situation with Covid-19 while preparing to use His camp in whatever way God allows during this difficult time.
With the announcement by the Ontario Government that overnight camps will not be allowed to open this summer, we were disheartened to say the least. This has resulted in the necessity for Camp OCA to cancel all our regular summer overnight programs for the 2020 season.
But, we do not give up hope. We must have faith that God has purpose in everything that touches our life. Paul reminds us of this in Romans 5:3-5
And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope. This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
In this light we are exploring how to use Camp OCA during this difficult time where families in more urban areas do not have easy access to nature and the outdoors. Ideas that are percolating include children’s day camp for those who can acquire transportation, as well as family day camp adventures with a full day of food, fun, and spiritual guidance while keeping social distancing requirements.
Even with a good plan, all of these prospects will require a major re-tooling and investment within a very short period of time, which may not be possible this year. As we explore exact steps on how we can be a blessing to you while keeping everyone’s safety a priority, please keep Camp OCA in your prayers. And if you have any ideas you’d like to share on how camp could be a blessing to you, please contact us via our contact page. We would love to hear from you!
